CLIENT OPENING: Every. Now. Then: Reframing Nationhood opens at the Art Gallery of Ontario

4 clients and many friends are part of the AGO’s Summer 2017 exhibition lineup.

Barry Ace, Jeff Thomas, Michael Belmore and Rosalie Favell are 4 talented and generous people who I have had the pleasure of collaborating with. Their work is part of an important show at the AGO that “explores three urgent questions through the eyes of some of the country’s best emerging and established artists: where has Canada come from, what it is now, and where is it going?”

Canada 150 Celebrations have been fraught with narratives that discount certain trajectories in the founding of Canada as a nation state that has been devastating for Indigenous people and problematic for non-white Canadians.  This exhibition, curated by Andrew Hunter, problematizes founding stories and present day experiences in order to suggest alternate trajectories for the future.

I am looking forward to spending time at Every. Now. Then: Reframing Nationhood in the coming weeks.

Congrats to everyone who is involved in this timely and necessary exhibition!
