CLIENT IN THE NEWS: #Mikmaq #artist Ursula Johnson on #CBCRadio “A new rock star in the art world”

I am starting my morning right by listening to my client Ursula Johnson on CBC Radio’s Ideas with Paul Kennedy. Ursula recently won the Sobey Award and her prominence and national recognition as an important Indigenous artist is growing. This is great to see as her work inserts complexity into the discourse around thinking through gallery collections and museology with regards to Indigenous holdings and contemporary curatorial practices.

As the program title says – “A new rock star in the art world.” I confer! This is a fascinating listen archived here on CBC Radio’s website.

And in other good news Ursula will be exhibiting in Ottawa at Central Art Garage this coming March. Her exhibition The Indian Truckhouse of High Art opens March 2. More info on Central Art Garage’s website.
