CONFERENCE: Indigenous artists gather at @agotoronto for #Aabaakwad (It Clears After a Storm)
From Thursday, September 13 – Saturday, September 15 the Aabaakwad Conference will be taking place at the Art Gallery of Ontario in Toronto.
Tomorrow evening Rebecca Belmore, Jolene Rickard and Wanda Nanibush open the conference as the keynote speakers.
aabaakwad (it clears after a storm) is a two-and-a-half-day event focused on shifting the current global interest in Indigenous arts to be one that is Indigenous-led…This event is centered on informal, in-depth conversations between Indigenous artists, curators and scholars from Australia, New Zealand, the United States and Canada.
Other speakers include an incredible lineup of Indigenous artists and curators moderated by other incredible cultural provocateurs – Jesse Wente (Indigenous Screen Office), Tanya Talaga (Toronto Star), Candy Palmater (APTN) and Duncan McCue (CBC).
