EN DIRECT DE LA PALESTINE / LIVE IN PALESTINE is a performance exhibition and event organized by AXENÉO7 bringing together a wide-range of contemporary artists currently living and working in Palestine. The works included in the exhibition combine performative practices with political engagement by addressing some of the complexities of living in Palestine.

Many of the works presented in the exhibition have never been shown in North America. Internationally renowned artist Rana Bishara will be in residency at AXENÉO7 in June 2018 to create new live work for the exhibition.

This exhibition was initiated at the Art & Resistance conference organized by Dar al Kalima University (Bethlehem), and is scheduled to tour in Canada, the US and Palestine in 2018 and 2019.

Organisée par AXENÉO7, En direct de la Palestine est une exposition de performance réunissant un large éventail d’artistes contemporains qui vivent et travaillent actuellement en Palestine. Les propositions de ceux-ci combinent des pratiques performatives à travers un engagement critique et politique abordant certaines des complexités de la vie en Palestine.
L’exposition réunit Jumana Emil Abboud (Jérusalem), Nihayah Alhaj (Bethléem), Khalil al-Mozain (London, ON), Rana Bishara (Bethléem), Mohamed Harb (Gaza), Emily Jacir (New York et Ramallah), Manal Mahamid (Haïfa), Mohammad Mustafa (Bethléem et Ramallah), Mohamed Obeidallah (Bethléem), Raeda Saadeh (Jérusalem) et Sharif Waked (Haïfa et Nazareth), une sélection d’artistes influents et émergents à la fois. La majorité des œuvres présentées n’ont jamais été montrées en Amérique du Nord. L’artiste de renommée internationale Rana Bishara propose une performance inédite créée lors d’une résidence à AXENÉO7 en juin 2018.
En direct de la Palestine rassemble diverses performances qui demandent au spectateur d’envisager comment les corps, les actions et les images produisent du sens dans des espaces géopolitiques particuliers. Les commissaires considèrent que cette exposition est cruciale en cette ère d’hostilité vu les récentes fusillades de manifestants palestiniens à Gaza, la décision du président Donald Trump de déplacer l’Ambassade des États-Unis à Jérusalem au mépris de la communauté internationale, ainsi que l’arrestation de centaines d’enfants palestiniens dont Ahed Tamimi âgé de seulement seize ans. En présentant des artistes palestiniens contemporains à un public canadien, Khimasia, Nazzal et St-Laurent espèrent encourager le dialogue et l’échange.
Cette exposition a été initiée lors de la conférence Art & Resistance organisée par l’Université Dar al-Kalima (Bethléem) et sera mise en circulation pour une tournée au Canada, aux États-Unis et en Palestine entre 2018 et 2019.
